What is a Bio-Based Product?
Bio-based products are defined as those composed in whole or large part of renewable agricultural or forestry materials. The term "bioproduct" is short for biomass products, and can be used to describe a chemical, material, or other product derived from renewable biomass resources. Such products, often made from plant, animal and marine substances, now include items such as cleaners, lubricants, building materials, insulation, roof coatings, fuel additives and printer cartridge toner.
